Welcome to Laughing Cat Books and Stuff's Cyber Store.
Laughing Cat Books and Stuff is located in historic Rochester, New York on the southern shore of Lake Ontario near the scenic Finger Lakes. A Veteran owned and operated business, we feature useful and interesting products you aren't likely to find anywhere else.
Laughing Cat Books is presently in the process of introducing two new series of books. The first is called "An American City." It is a collection of original works and recontituted books about the Rochester, New York area. Here you can find "Old News" and "More Old News," books that feature unique and unusual news articles about Rochester from the early 1800s to the late 1900s. Here you can read about the collapse of the Court Street Bridge, the man who walked a tightrope over the Upper Falls and countless other stories. For excerpts click on the "An American City" category at left and view the excerpts.
On April 1, 2010, Laughing Cat Books will be announcing our Spring-Summer 2010 book releases. Included will be paper back copies of Women's Words, Women's Wisdom, A Laughing Cat Original book of quotes by women. Also in the release will be several reconstituted cookbooks in the "An American City" Series and many other interesting items. Watch for this release!
We are now working on our Fall-Winter 2010 release which will include, among other things, an original book about items that were made in Rochester, New York. (Did you ever hear of Sen Sen Gum? Or the Corset on Wheels? Or the Seyle Fire Engine? Or The East India Consumption Cure? They are all in there and many more. In addition we will be publishing the "American Bride's Cookbook Series," which will encompass reconstituted cookbooks from around America from the early 20th Century. Bookmark us now so you are sure to remember to comeback.
The other series we are introducing is reconstituted cookbooks from the 1800s and early 1900s. These cookbooks aren't photocopies of the original. Laughing Cat Books has taken them to the bare text, reset and republished them with a glossary of terms and other useful information. We have also included the original advertisements. For the cookbooks in the "An American City" series, the Rochester Public Library Local History Division has permitted us to use actual pictures from the late 1800s and early 1900s to show you what life was like in Rochester.
I would also like to mention that our books are assembled, bound, and covered by hand using a process that is unique to Laughing Cat Books. They are designed to be durable and to last for years.
