AUTHORS AND BOOKS DEPARTMENT Thank you for stopping by the Authors and Books Department. Laughing Cat Books has established this department to present information about interesting and informative books you probably would not otherwise hear about. All books are presented with a synopsis or excerpts to give you an idea of what they are about and information on how to order them or find out more about them. To order a copy, or for more information, follow the contact information. Please do not order from Laughing Cat Books. Go directly to the contact listed.
So browse around awhile. You’ll never know what you might see.
If you are an author, this will interest you. Because many great books go unsold and unread because of a lack of support from publishers or the self-publisher’s limited resources to promote them, Laughing Cat is offering writers a listing in this department. For six months, we will publish up to 250 words about your book and one picture on this website at no charge to you. In addition, we will list key words on the web so that when someone makes a search for your book, or your name, they will find it.* This gives you, the author, the opportunity to present a synopsis or to print excerpts on the web. We don’t even require ISBN or bar codes for your listing. Think of the possibilities and the cost savings!
Because of sales taxes, administrative, and shipping and handling costs, we will not be selling your book on line. In most cases, we compute that we would only be able to offer you 50% of the list price if we were going to resell it. Instead, we will furnish the potential buyer with your web address, mailing address, and/or locations where the book can be purchased. Of course, if you want to make a donation to Laughing Cat Books to help support this program, based on your sales, we would be more glad to accept it.
At this time, this service is free to authors. All we ask is that you refer people to laughingcatbooks.com so they can read your presentation or excerpts. You couldn’t ask for a better deal than that.
Certain conditions do apply. Laughing Cat Books reserves the right to refuse any book for listing in our Authors and Books Department. We will not list pornography, hate literature or any other subject outside of what we would publish ourselves. Also, if we receive a complaint from a buyer that they paid for a book and it has not been shipped with a reasonable period of time, we will promptly remove you from the department.
If you are an author and you would like to have your book displayed in our Authors and Books Department, please prepare a synopsis or excerpt and picture for submission. Send to david@laughingcatbooks.com for consideration for your free listing.

Could the solution to most personal challenges and planetary woes have a common underlying cause--humanity’s disconnection from Nature? Could finding solutions begin with a simple walk in the park? Yes, says Ecopsychologist, Dr. Theresa Sweeney in her new book Owl Winks and Forest Songs: Finding wellness through nature’s wisdom.
“Though people are part of Nature, we suffer many discomforts and problems that aren't seen in the rest of the natural world.,” Dr. Sweeney says. “Many of us look around at Nature's world and wonder why things seem to work so beautifully in it, but not so in our daily lives. The trouble is that we spend so much time indoors, we've disconnected ourselves from Nature's love, wisdom and balance.”
Owl Winks and Forest Songs offers a simple remedy. With child-friendly text, fun exercises, and wonderful drawings, Dr. Sweeney presents a dialoging with nature process that people of all ages, and in all walks of life, can use to let Nature teach. She re-introduces us to over 48 senses that we, as part of Nature, inherited from the natural world at birth, but learned to ignore. After illustrating how our dependency on abstract word-based thinking underlies our troubles and showing the importance of including these forgotten senses in our thought-processing, Dr. Sweeney invites readers to practice the art of thinking like Nature on 16 of her realistic wildlife drawings. Because though, there can be no substitute for the real thing, she then encourages readers outside to use their nature language while in tangible contact with Nature.
“Few books of such apparent simplicity can cause you to think so deeply,” says M.A. Educator, Allison Ewoldt. “What Columbus did for the flat earth theory, Dr. Sweeney does to the myth that humans have only 5 senses. We have, in fact, more than 53! This book makes you question many things about the way we live, the way we interact with Nature, and most of all, how much time we waste on things that don't matter. Learning to think like nature has rejuvenated my life. Dr. Sweeney makes a valuable contribution to the well-being of ourselves and the earth...for we do not save what we do not love, and we do not love what we do not know."
