Originally published by a Rochester church group in 1891, The Flower City Cookbook is a reconstituted cookbook, not a photocopy of the original. As part of our READ (Restoring Early American Documents) program, Laughing Cat Books has taken down to its bare text and reset it in 13 point bold print so it is easy to read. In addition, we have added a glossary for words and terms that are no longer used. Lastly we have included real pictures and advertisements from Rochester in 1880 showing what life was like.

One major book store chain is selling The Genesee Valley Cookbook for $52.00 and it is basically a photocopy of the original. In ours the type has all been reset so it it easy to read, we've added a glossary and we've enhanced it with many interesting items--for one-third the cost of what they are charging!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There was a time, not so long ago, when the Genesee Valley of New York State was the western frontier of America. This book, originally published in 1905 by Miss Mumford, is a collection of recipes from the 19th century.

Encouraged by the success of their 1880 book, the ladies did it again in 1887. This reconstituted edition contains everything that was in the original 1887 plus advertisements, pictures and a glossary. Great reading. Great gift.
